These mesmerizing sculptures are the work of William Ricketts, a rare Australian born in 1898 who was in awe of the connection the Aborigine people have with the land. Hidden deep within a lush Australian rainforest are a set of mystical Aborigine sculptures seemingly merged into the natural surroundings. Moss covered torsos of men, women and children protrude from tree trunks and boulders. Some reach heavenward with widespread wings, others envelop each other protectively – all are symbols of the relationship the indigenous Australian Aborigines have with nature.

“Let me forever go in search of myself; never for a moment think that I have found myself; be as a stranger to myself, never farmiliar, seeking aquantaince still.
May I be to myself as one is to me whom I love, a dear and cherished object.” Thoreau (Journal)

“Vera said: “Why do you feel you have to turn everything into a story?”
So I told her why.
Because if I tell the story, I control the version.
Because if I tell the story, I can make you laugh, and I would rather have you laugh at me than feel sorry for me.
Because if I tell the story, it doesn’t hurt as much.
Because if I tell the story, I can get on with it.”

Nora Ephron, Heartburn (1983)

I can’t believe I still have this. I used to carry it around in my wallet with me, however one day I lost it. Somewhere, in the silent genius that I had, I snapped a picture of it and it has resurfaced on my computer. Love love love!
